The more brilliant a person is the more private his life tends to be. That is why, perhaps, Pallonji Mistry is one of the most reclusive billionaires in the world.

Very few know the man. Yet everyone knows the results of his work. The Bombay Stock Exchange building. The Bombay-Pune Expressway. The buildings of banks in Bombay's iconic Fort area. The Brabourne Stadium. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Mughal-E-Azam, that classic of Indian cinema. And the list can go on.

Pallonji Mistry, a construction tycoon, may be a man of few words but, owing to his controlling stake in Tata Sons, and the manner in which he commands respect and authority, he is known as the Phantom of Bombay House in business circles.

Hardly appearing in public, one of India's most prominent citizens lives quietly in Bombay, spending portions of his year in Pune and Ireland, and moments of lesiure in his 200 acres stud farm.
