1975 and Bombay Movies

1975 has to be the most prolific year for Hindi cinema.

Movies that are now considered classics – Sholay, Deewar, Aandhi, Mausam, Chhoti Si Baat, Khushboo, Chupke Chupke, Mili, and some other very good movies – released in the same year, and ventured deep into public's imagination. Think of what a pleasure it would have been to go to the movies in 1975, or for that matter, in most of the years of fifties, sixties, and seventies.

Very few movies are made now that can match that quality. What we essentially get today, with some very good exceptions once in a while, is garbage.
